It is possible to become pregnant the first time you have sex/ intercourse.
Once a girl reaches puberty (when she begins to have periods), an egg can be released from her ovaries. It is then possible for sperm, released from a boy's penis to fertilize this egg during sex. The girl can then become pregnant.
