The YAPS logo stands for supporting young parents groups.
There are a number of YAPS Young Parent Groups around Kent though they may have their own names like 'teens with tots'. These groups are free to any young parent under 20 and you are welcome to just drop in.
The groups exist to provide information and support to young parents in a welcoming, non judgmental environment.
Groups are run by a combination of professionals from health services, Connexions, Sure Start, Home Start and the voluntary sector. Most groups will be able to provide you with midwifery and health visiting support, on a range of issues from healthy eating during pregnancy to tips on breastfeeding and weaning.
They also provide an opportunity for you to meet with other young parents, as well as offering access to play equipment and trips out.
YAPS groups offer a rolling programme of events so be sure to check out your local group. Groups are opening all the time so it's worth checking out what your local childrens centre is up to.
